Currently on se-board we have a minumum 3 post requirement before any member can download any of the material uploaded by our members.

We would like to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Make it a time limit rather than a "spam" limit?

cchao's idea is a good one, also maybe a 1/2/3 post limit, but with moderators approval, so they cannot download anything unless mods approve post first, making sure its not spam.

Why not remove this "3 posts" limit? It will avoid spamming and useless members.

Because the reason it was implemented in the first place was because there was too many new members and not a single post in weeks at least this way there are posts on the forum and most are in the introductions forum

also dont know if this is any use: Allow new members to post only after 24 hours of registration?

I dont think the 24 hour thing would be good because people like me who joined started posting right away.

How about we have moderators approval for the first 6 posts that any member makes. Therefore they might actually post something useful and the posts that arent good just dont get approved. This will benefit us by them sharing something with us and them getting the download that they want.

How about needing 2x +Rep to download we will give +1 for eg posting in introductions forum

Looking at all the new users, most of them have 0 posts, or have exactly 3, mostly random posts, examples: Example 1, Example 2, Example 3, Example 4 and just about everyone on this list (the advanced filters work quite well ). I wonder why there are 71 pages with 20 users on each page making it 1420 users. Infact, less than 40 people even bothered to make it up to 3 posts. Don't you think that this just makes the forum worse by adding random posts that absolutely no one needs?

What I think you should do is remove the 3 post limitation since it isn't working, and put a system where instead of moderators aproving people, any member with more than, lets say, 30 posts can aprove any new user with any post count if they feel like they are supposed to be in the community. Like that, if a user wants to download, he has to actualy become part of the community, instead of just spamming. Oh, and to attract more users, add more downloads, tutorials, etc, and only let approved people download, upload files, read and post tutorials. Then, we will have something better here.

Or how about a user has to upload 2 files before they can download. This will be approved by a moderator. Then they can download. This way they are uploading things to us.
